Rejoice, islanders! The Government of Thailand is slowly easing restrictions in a bid to lift the lockdown, all thanks to the reduced number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the country.
Do you know what this means? You can slowly go back to your lifestyle norm. You can finally dine in at your favorite restaurants, go shopping in malls, and even get a haircut from an actual hairdresser instead of trimming your hair yourselves and regretting the decision afterward.
While this news gives us hope for a brighter future; one that will let us live in a safe environment free from worry and fear, it should also serve as a reminder to continue following certain rules and practices at home and in public if we want the future we all yearn for to arrive. Here are 5 things you should do and/or continue doing in the coming weeks and months, even as the lockdown in Phuket is eased:
1. Always Wear a Mask
Remember, just because the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases is dwindling doesn’t mean you no longer need to be cautious. It’s possible for a person to carry the virus without showing symptoms, which is why it’s essential that you wear a sanitary mask every time you go out, to protect you and others. It’s also a current law in Thailand, so if you don’t want to risk a hefty fine, be sure to wear a mask.
2. Practice Good Personal Hygiene
Remember to wash your hands regularly with soap and water, for at least 20-30 seconds each time, especially after you sneeze into your hands or a tissue, blow your nose, use the washroom, before leaving the house, and after coming back home. You should also clean and disinfect your home and belongings regularly.
3. Distance Yourself
When you’re out, be sure to practice social distancing. Stay away from crowded places as much as you can, do not gather in large groups, and keep at least a 6-feet distance from the people around you. The less you interact with others, the easier it is to contain and, hopefully, eradicate the virus.
4. Don’t Go Out Unless You Need To
While we’re all so happy to be out and about again, it’s important to remember that we could experience another wave of the virus that could force the country into another lockdown if we’re not careful enough. Until the pandemic comes to an end, we should try our best to stay in and take advantage of the delivery services made available to us. Whether you need groceries or an aesthetically-pleasing lamp to brighten up the place, you can get it delivered right to your doorstep.
5. Stay Healthy
We all need to focus on our health now more than ever and build immunity to fight the virus. Drinks lots of water, eat fresh fruits and vegetables, and incorporate some superfoods into your diet.
Lastly, stay positive and look forward to a better tomorrow. With a collective effort from everyone in the community, we’ll be able to beat this crisis.
