Phuket has come face-to-face with many crises before, and each time it gets knocked down by financial recessions, natural disasters, or health pandemics, it emerges stronger than before. COVID-19 will be no exception!
Now that the number of daily confirmed coronavirus cases in Phuket has reached a plateau and is at an all-time low, the island is certainly on the path to recovery. If there is one good thing to have come out of this pandemic, it is that Phuket has once again proven why it is one of the best places in the world to live.
It has its peoples’ best interests at heart!
Even before the coronavirus morphed into a global pandemic, it was predicted that Thailand would see up to 350,000 infections and 7,000 deaths by mid-April. To ensure that these numbers do not become a bleak reality, the Thai government declared a state of emergency and quickly took strict measures to contain the virus. The borders were shut to avoid imported cases, almost all provinces within Thailand were placed under lockdown, and a nationwide curfew was imposed. In addition, schools, universities, and entertainment venues were forced by law to close their doors in a bid to curb the spread of the virus.
With the highest number of coronavirus infections per capita in Thailand, Phuket experienced a more serious lockdown as the island’s governor barred the movement of all people and vehicles into and out of the island. Now, a few months later, Thailand is one of the few countries in the world to have successfully kept coronavirus at bay, all thanks to the country’s decisive leadership!
It has an impeccable healthcare system!
If the medical tourism figures for the past few years are anything to go by, it can easily be said that Phuket’s healthcare system is up to international standards. In fact, Phuket has the best healthcare facilities in the North Andaman Coast region. There are both private hospitals and government-run hospitals, all of which can cater to your medical needs. The island has been offering free treatments to those who have tested positive for the virus, making sure that money does not deter access to healthcare or put public health at risk.
It’s much greener than it ever was!
Many people dream of living in Phuket to be in touch with nature, and the island just got a whole lot greener! The lack of tourism and human activity in Phuket during the lockdown has allowed flora and fauna to thrive as the emission of pollutants into Phuket’s atmosphere and waters were minimal. This allowed non-human species of the island to take a breath of fresh air and enjoy its azure waters. The tranquil environment encouraged creatures that are rarely seen, like sea turtles, to reemerge.
Now that the lockdown is lifted, we, at PropertyinPhuket.com, have taken it upon ourselves to clean the beaches of Phuket, in a bid to make the island even more beautiful and to play our part in helping the island’s recovery from COVID-19.
It has affordable homes!
One of the things Phuket is well-known for is its affordable housing. You can own a slice of paradise for a fraction of the price! Due to COVID-19, the Thai property market experienced a hit, largely due to a drop in investors who were either unable to travel to Phuket or had reduced purchasing power as a result of the pandemic. This caused property prices to fall. However, the market is expected to pick up at the end of this year or early next year. If you’re looking for the perfect time to invest in real estate, it’s already here! You don’t even have to travel to Phuket to invest in real estate here!
